Auckland in Her Blues and Greys

Auckland, July 12-14th 2015

As the whole New Zealand appeared to me, so had been Auckland: It's either blue or grey. It can be so sunny that even a wet towel inside my room dries up from the sunshine piercing through New Zealand's broad wide window glass. And then boom! By the next day, or just within hours, everything changes -- into grey. Being a weather forecaster in New Zealand certainly is a tough job.

Most of these pictures were taken from behind glasses, either the window glass of Intercity, or Auckland Hop and Off Explorer, or Auckland's Sky Tower viewing deck.

If you take a closer look, a bit above the horizon, stretches aotearoa, the long white cloud.

See? Aotearoa!!
Piercing into the long white cloud is Sky Tower.
Auckland Harbour viewed through Sky Tower 51st level.
Auckland, the busiest city in New Zealand.
Overheard from a local, "Everyday I get stuck in traffic jam and spend 1.5 hour on the road just to get home." Uhm, my Jakarta eyes are trying to picture how that could be happening, in Auckland.

YMCA, my hostel while in Auckland, on a blue day.
A bus stop.
My window view on the way back from Sheepworld to Auckland City.
Two things you... well, I, can't believe:
  1. It's actually winter.
  2. Just a few hours ago, the sky was grey and even drizzling.

That's it when Auckland changes color into grey.
One of the many things I love about New Zealand is the wide broad window glasses.
Some of the houses look like the houses in that game "The Sims"

Parnell Village, a popular spot in Auckland.
It is said that George Bush favoured Parnell Village so much that he visited here twice.

Indeed, Auckland is a melting pot. Signboards written in Mandarin, sushi restaurants with "sushi" written nearly in all the same style, Indian shopkeepers, Turkish kebab cafes... you name it.

Then! Even your hair is golden blond (and short), you can have it braided in African style -- in Auckland!!
