Lost in Still Beauties

Kaikoura, July 21st 2015

So now I'll have to walk back another 4.5 km along this winding Kaikoura Coast almost forming the letter W. I wondered, swimming might be faster, because then it would be just straight like a hyphen instead of a W. "As if there are no waves!" I answered back to myself. How about talking the path through Ward Street? Judging from the map I got from i-Site, it's shorter in distance. I turned left following the guidepost "Ward St". Unlike the coastline, it was an ascending road. For the sake of a shorter distance, I kept reminding myself.

At the end of the road.
Cute gate. I think I have seen this in my story book those yearsss back :D
The guidepost said "Enjoy the Walk" but the gate seemed closed.

In a season called winter, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was.

I walked and walked following the flowers. Is the "lookout" the i-Site staff marked on my map somewhere here? It looks so.

This lookout maybe??
A man came out from the house behind me. Either he didn't notice me or he pretended so. He went busy with his gardening with his back towards me. I thought it would not be polite not to great him. "Hello..."

The man turned his back, pulled up his back straight, and didn't smile. I tried hard to give him my best smile.

"Bla... bla... bla... " he said. I couldn't get what he was saying.

"Excuse me?"

"Private. Private." That's all what I understood.

"I just want to take pictures of the flowers."

"Private. Private."

"Okay. I'm sorry. I didn't know."

Luckily I had already taken enough pictures. So where's the lookout? Maybe I should look in the house :D

Fyffe House from above.
On the way to the peninsula I took a picture of this house, but from below. You remember?
A repeat from previous post, in case you haven't seen it.
The name of that private place maybe?
I didn't want to risk taking another path. So I just returned to the main street and completed that W letter.

Wild but beautiful flowers springing out from the stones.
The way back was yet to be decorated by some still beauties: flowers.
